Music History Camp 2017 -
00:00 / 00:00

Hundreds of years ago, before it was common to smile for portraits or photos, four geniuses penned melodies and harmonies that we could say "stand the test of time"...that is, if you recognize what you hear (turn sound on).

Moose Jaw Summer Camp

This camp gives students a glimpse into the lives of four great classical composers: J.S. Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Debussy. As we study each composer’s childhood and career, students will learn about the music, fashion, art, and architecture of the time. Students are fascinated to find that they can relate to the life stories of composers who lived hundreds of years ago. Each day, students will take home a crafted scrapbook page about that day’s composer. By the end of the camp, students will be more confident aurally recognizing the time period in which pieces were composed! Parents are welcomed in at the end of camp to see what was learned and to test their aural recognition skills! In the long run, having this broader context of music history enriches students' years of piano study, especially when playing classical piano literature.
